Don’t Try to Redirect God’s Will

"Lazarus's sickness will not end in death. No, it happened for the glory of God so that the Son of God will receive glory from this." ~ John 11:4 (NLT)

As I approached Lazarus's home, Martha said, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died." She assumed that her will was My Father's will. She wanted her brother healed, and she assumed if I had gotten there in time, I would have healed him. She was wrong. Our purpose was greater than just restoring Lazarus's health. Martha also assumed that My late arrival had defeated God's will, to save her brother. My late arrival did not defeat God's will; it was the means by which His perfect will would be accomplished. His will wasn't about restoring Lazarus's health; it was about glorifying Me. For that glory to be revealed, Lazarus had to die. God's will blessed Mary and Martha in a way far greater than they had conceived. Child, there is nothing wrong with your asking God for your will to be done. But know that the Father and I love you so much that We often have an even better plan. Our will is about more than your temporary circumstances; it's about eternity. Trust Us.

"If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!" ~ Matthew 7:11
